Open Jive Regional Challenge 2009 Grand Finals

The Open Jive Regional Challenge 2009 Grand Finals, held on 28 July at the Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore, was a huge success, thanks to everyone's support.

This year's Open Jive Challenge saw over one hundred project submissions from the five participating countries. After a month of local finals, the top team from each country was selected to pitch their projects to a panel of judges and an audience of professional developers.

The students' projects showed how the Open Source movement is a global force that enables students, developers and professionals from all over the world to make positive change.

CDSTrio emerged as the Grand Champions with their application, "SmartShop".

CDSTrio’s application enables online shoppers to ‘try on’ apparel when buying from e-commerce sites. Their application, built on Java technology, beat the remaining four teams from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines to come up tops and claim the prize of Open Jive Regional Challenge Grand Champion.

For their effort, CDSTrio received US$3,000 cash and a Regional Grand Champion Challenge trophy. Each member also received an Apple MacBook 13-inch and Sun Learning Services Examination Vouchers worth approximately US$200.
